I use reaper as well sometimes however there are some things about reaper i just dont like.for instance when using a drum loop and I want to extend the loop to be longer i find that it takes forever to stretch it out and its pretty annoying.Also you have to download the lame dll and copy and paste into the reaper file in order to mix down to mp3.not a big deal however for beginner users it can be frustrating.I also had a tough time using midi.I would select addictive drums as my virtual instument then the little keyboard thing would pop up so I could create a pattern however none of the keys had any sounds.not sure why however in mixcraft it works exactly how I want it to. I'm just trying to hedge my bet a little here and possibly save myself $70. Please know that I mean no disrespect to Mixcraft - it's a great product for the price. It's a little above my head at the moment since I'm no recording expert, but I have to ask a question to anyone who has used Reaper - are there features/options in Reaper that just aren't available in Mixcraft? I'd hate to get 6 months into this with Mixcraft and find that I've outgrown it and regret not having gone with Reaper. The point of my post is this - I just downloaded Reaper and I'm shocked by how much more there seems to be to it. So far, I really like the simplicity of the software and I'm getting some good stuff out of it even though I'm only recording guitar directly through my sound card (been out of the music biz for about 10 years so the amount of stuff that's out there is overwhelming.I have a Line 6 box coming soon).

I haven't pulled the trigger on buying a reg code yet because I'm still working on getting my guitar sound together (currently recording direct.yuck). I DL'd Mixcraft about a month ago and have been fooling around with it on a very basic level.
